場刊中對這首歌的註解是這樣寫的:「愛情使人快樂，亦令人沮喪。對愛慕了女主角已十七年的亞歷士而言，世上汲有任何事物能比得上愛情；痛苦的是，愛人已把他置之不理。回憶起過去的日子，亞歷士悲從中來，淚眼裡只看到往日歡欣的情景。」其實場刊所寫的，正是《Aspect of Love》中開場的一段情節。而這首歌亦是這套音樂劇的序幕曲。
